The Unstill Image: A film workshop with Radhamohini Prasad
18th – 23rd April 2026
Representing the world and how we position ourselves in it through the filmmaking process
The workshop sessions will involve:
—Exploring multiple perspectives and the cracks in between
—Linking content, form, ethics and aesthetics
—Deprogramming the gaze
—Questioning dominant narrative and stereotypes
—Finding ways of expression through the visual medium
—Discussions on the personal, political, historical, gender, class and caste concerns
—Narrative construction and film analysis from a practitioner’s point of view
—The role of research in the formation of an image
The five days will consist of:
Film analysis and discussions
Exploration of diverse locations: taking stills and videos on mobile phones
On ground research with observations and writings
Expository sessions with the mentor
About the Facilitator:

Radhamohini Prasad is a filmmaker based in Kalimpong. She has been a resident filmmaker at Critical Art & Media Practices (Mumbai) and the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (Bangalore), and a visiting faculty member at the Creative Documentary Course, SACAC (New Delhi). In 2013, as an Unbox Fellowship Programme (New Delhi) Fellow, she was a co-recipient of the AHRC Booster Fund Pitch for Law Digital, an experimental digital cartography project.
Her film Machis Ko Sinka screened at Film South Asia (Kathmandu) and the SIGNS: John Abraham National Award Festival (Trivandrum). In 2023, The Landscapes of Sanatoriums was commissioned by the Asian Film Archive for Monographs, a series of video and text essays on Asian cinema. The film was screened and exhibited at the Oldham Theatre Foyer and Central Public Library (Singapore), San Art Gallery (Vietnam), Dharamshala International Film Festival (India), Arkipel – Jakarta International Documentary & Experimental Film Festival, Festival Film Dokumenter, and Minikino Film Week (Indonesia).
Her birthplace and its circumstances have strongly influenced her work.
