Storytelling Workshop with Riverstories

Exploring the ancient wisdom of Teesatha

Through storytelling and listening to the ancient stories of these landscapes, the two-day workshop will allow participants to reflect on their journey through the Lepcha folklore of River Teesta – ‘Teesatha’ and the daughter of River Teesta – Balasun – ‘Bolachyon’.

As a self-exploratory method, the participants will be asked to find their trajectories in their River of Life and reflect, listen and reconcile with the water bodies around the region. The folklore will merely be a medium of healing and reflecting in these tumultuous times when the River Teesta is trying to speak.

Disclaimer: The workshop is purely for self-reflection and not research documentation. The participants are encouraged to come with the intent of self-reflection and not documenting the community stories.

The workshop will be conducted by Minket Lepcha – a storyteller and filmmaker from Darjeeling. The stories of River Teesta and River Balasun will be narrated through the voices of Cho Lamu and Glory respectively. These stories will be emoted by Lakith, Dawa and Kingchum with Mutanchi Souls adding rhythm to these emotions.
