Murti Making Workshop with Diane Thomas
Create a Devotional Murti for Your Shrine
This contemplative 5-Day guided workshop in the methods and materials to create a personal devotional sculpture appropriate for including on one’s shrine.
Participants will be introduced to the materials and practices used to make a small sculpture and if so inspired, to carry on the practice to make more pieces at home.
Prior to the start of the workshop, each participant will source an image of their chosen deity as a reference for the 3-dimensional murti.
Criteria for Image—
● Fill/fit 8.5 x 11 space page (this will be the actual size of the finished piece.
● Black and White or color is fine
● Uncomplicated images (we will only work with the main figure
● Second copy is helpful
There will be daily guided meditation based on “True Perception: The Path of Dharma Art” by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
Participation fee Rs. 1000 (including materials).

About the Instructor:
Diane Thomas is a dharma student of 25 + years and has been staying in Bir for some time. She holds a MA in Education and a Masters of Professional Science in Art & Technology. She designs her clothing, jewelry, and makes devotional art as well small spontaneous sculptures. In making, she is self-taught and enjoys exploring a range of materials and processes.
