SUMMARY:Joy of Living I: Retreat with Kunsang Palmo & George Hughes
DESCRIPTION:Residential Retreat with senior Tergar Facilitators\n(In collaboration with Tergar Nalanda Foundation)\nHave you ever felt a need to calm the mind and learn how to better deal with everyday stress, anxiety, and emotions?\nWe all do our best to manage the challenges of modern life. What if these challenges could help us discover inner calm and emotional balance? In the meditation retreat Joy of Living 1, Mingyur Rinpoche’s teachings show us how meditation can transform the way we relate to stressful situations and challenging emotions. This allows us to embrace all aspects of life with mindful awareness.\nIn this six-day retreat, you will explore the landscape of your experience with mindfulness and presence, and learn how to use your body, sensory experiences, thoughts, emotions, and even awareness itself, as supports for meditation.\nThe retreat will include video teachings by Mingyur Rinpoche, and Q&A and facilitated sessions by Tergar Guides George Hughes and Kunsang Palmo, group meditation sessions, awareness yoga, and the opportunity for private interviews with the guides.\nDuring the retreat, silence will be held from Saturday morning until lunchtime on Tuesday 2nd.\nThis is a rare opportunity to learn and practice the Joy of Living 1 in a retreat environment. For those new to Joy of Living and for experienced practitioners, practicing and learning in retreat is a wonderful way to deepen your experience of these meditation practices.\nPrerequisites\nThere are no prerequisites for this retreat. It is open to everyone, and suitable for people of all backgrounds, including those who are new to meditation and experienced meditators.\nKunsang Palmo\n\nOriginally from England, Tsunma Kunsang Palmo spent over a decade as an art teacher in international schools worldwide. She encountered Tibetan Buddhism during a trip to Kathmandu and chose to stay in India and Nepal and immerse herself in the dharma. She served Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo and went on to complete a three-year retreat at Sherabling Monastery under the guidance of Mingyur Rinpoche.\nKunsang is a guide for Tergar’s Joy of Living and Vajrayana Online courses, the Tergar Meditation Teacher Program, and is a faculty member at the Tergar Institute which offers experiential and applied courses in Tibetan Buddhism. In 2021 she was invited to teach in Antigua and Trinidad for Bodhicharya, founded by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche. She now divides her time between Tergar Osel Ling Monastery in Kathmandu and the Caribbean.\nGeorge Hughes\n\nBeginning his journey into meditation and the wisdom traditions as a teenager, George Hughes has been a practitioner and teacher in several traditions. He found his spiritual home with his root teacher, Mingyur Rinpoche, and has dedicated his life to sharing his profound teachings. In particular, George draws inspiration from the joy, levity, and simplicity of Rinpoche’s approach.\nGeorge has been a student of Mingyur Rinpoche and teaches Tergar’s Joy of Living and Path of Liberation curriculums around the world, including to groups in Asia, North and South America. He is also a guide for Tergar International’s Meditation Teacher Program and a faculty member at Tergar Institute.\nAdditionally, George has taught yoga, massage, and other holistic healing modalities.\nIn addition to his current role on the faculty of Tergar Institute, George has worked with Mingyur Rinpoche on a variety of projects, including guiding a series of treks through the Himalayas to help support Rinpoche’s social engagement projects. George’s passion for the dharma and meditation extends to all aspects of his life.\nFor inquiries, registration, and accommodation, please mail to info@buddhapada.in ( info@buddhapada.in )\n
