It is sometimes also called Japanese Esoteric Buddhism, or Eastern Esotericism. In March 2020, he performed the fire ritual (goma) at the inauguration ceremony of Buddha Pāda Institute in Kalimpong, India. He is a PhD candidate in South Asian Studies at Leiden University in the Netherlands, conducting a research on Mahāyāna Buddhist sūtras.\nAlongside his religious and academic career, he is a teacher of history and geography at Japanese Saturday School Amsterdam since April 2021.\nIn addition, he has an active interest in traditional Japanese music. He specializes in two types of Japanese flutes: the Shinobue and the Nohkan.
